Flipping ‘eck!

Today is Shrove Tuesday, more commonly known as Pancake Day.  Here’s a little bit of RE for you: Shrove Tuesday is actually a Christian Festival marking the start of 40 days of Lent which comes before Easter.  Christians often give up something nice during Lent to remember the sacrifice that they believe Jesus made when he was crucified.

At Brunel, Shrove Tuesday is the day when traditionally somebody tries, and fails, to make pancakes in front of the children.  However this year something went wrong with that traditional when not only one but two pancakes were successful cooked and tossed.  Here are a few photographs of that historic occasion…
