Dome Day!

Dome Day!

A strange, black hemisphere was lurking nonchalantly in the Lower Hall when the children arrived this morning.  Mysteriously it disappeared during lunch only to reappear at the other end of the Lower Hall this afternoon.  And in it, all sorts of magical things took place…

Year 3 entered the Dome in Science-mode this morning to learn more about dinosaurs and Year 4 entered the Dome in Maths-Mode this afternoon to learn more about pattern.  The inside of the dome is a projection screen so the children were able to view images and movies 360 degrees above their heads: amongst other things Year 3 were able to witness the meteor that destroyed the dinosaurs whilst Year 4 saw how the International Space Station was constructed.

Obviously taking photographs inside a darkened dome is a bit of a challenge so we apologise for the poor quality of these images which we hope will give a sense of what Year 3 saw: sadly our Year 4 photographs got lost in space…
